A Message from the Composer
A Study in Disillusion tells the story of a man slowly losing his mind. The piece starts off traditionally and with a sense of certainty, but as each movement passes, we stray further and further from that original picture. Each movement introduces stranger and stranger material to the point where the original figure is almost forgotten. Each movement represents the passing of time and the man falling further into insanity. The odd movements represent the revolving days and even movements represent the eerie nights. This piece was intended to explore the vast amount of sounds and musicianship that can be demonstrated on a relatively small multi-percussion set up. Sounds range from minimal & foreboding to rapid & frantic. As each movement passes, listen in shock to this Study in Disillusion.
