A Message from the Composer
Jackalope is an energetic and groovy drum quartet that captures the spirit of the famous American cryptid. Said to be a cross between a jackrabbit and an antelope, the jackalope symbolizes speed, unpredictability, and a little bit of humor. The legend gained popularity in the United States through novelty taxidermy, where fabricated jackalopes were sold as if they were real creatures, blending folklore with playful deception. This sense of normality mixed with a little absurdity is echoed in the instrumentation and piece. Overall, Jackalope is meant to be fun and lighthearted work that brings the legendary creature to life.
