Metered is a collection 502 cards, each with a unique combination of eighth notes and eighth rests. The cards consist of every time signature between 1/8 & 8/8 and every possible eighth note based rhythm within (excluding measures of purely rests). These cards are simply made to inspire creativity and help musicians explore all the rhythmic (and polymetric) possibilities within these time signatures.
Each card in this deck has information that makes it easily identifiable and can help with the multi-faceted uses of these cards. In the top left of each card, you will see a number, a decimal point, and then a secondary number. The first number indicates the time signature X/8. The secondary number indicates the number of actual eighth notes to be played within that measure. The rhythm is clearly in the center of the card. The number in the bottom right- hand corner is a unique, identifiable number for if you wanted to put the deck back in order or if you wanted to randomly select a rhythm between 1 and 502.

Metered is intentionally left to the devices of the beholder so that you can use it in your own creative way. There is no one way that these cards were intended to be used. However, a few recommend uses can be found in the first few pages including: Performances, Educational Tools, Creative Tools, Improving your Independence, or as a Game
Metered was created to bring a new element of creativity into musicians’ lives and to encourage us to better understand/feel different rhythms and meters. There is no wrong way to use this deck, so get creative and find ways to interact with this tool.
